Draft of Addressing Standards Available for Review
Pueblo County GIS, in coordination with the City of Pueblo, Pueblo Regional Building Department and several other organizations, has developed a draft addressing standards document. We are proposing that these standards be adopted by both the City and County for determining addresses. The draft document is available for download here.
The need for these standards has come about due to the integration of GIS functionality into a number of key City/County applications. These applications require that addresses be treated in a consistent manner, adhering to a common set of conventions relating to their placement, numbering and inter-jurisdictional management.
Comments about these proposed standards can be e-mailed to gis@co.pueblo.co.us.
GIS
plays a role in Pueblo County E-Government
Many people
complain about the bureaucratic complexity that can occur when dealing
with government agencies. E-government promises to simplify many
previously long drawn-out processes.
Building
permits, for example, used to require filling out many forms and
visiting many agencies. (Click
for a list of now-obsolete forms.) Now, Pueblo County has put
the building permit application process online, only requiring residents
to fill out one form. With the click of the button, the form is automatically
sent to the multiple agencies that review and approve building permit
applications.

The GIS
Department at Pueblo County assisted in bringing the building permit
application process to the Internet. Those applying for a permit
online need only find their property or residence from the easy-to-use
GIS databases. The databases provide lot and parcel information,
as well as aerial photography of every property in Pueblo County.
The process
for building permits is just the first way Pueblo County plans to
bring E-government to its residents. Look for more E-government solutions
in the future.
